Nancy Louise Ladenberger

Nancy Louise (Scofield) Ladenberger of Silverdale, Washington passed away in her home at Crista Shores on Wednesday November 29, 2023 at the age of 90. She was born on July 22, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan and had fond memories of summers at her grandparent’s home in Seaforth, Ontario, Canada as a teenager. She graduated from Highland Park High School in 1951 and worked at Michigan Bell Telephone Co. She married Edward Paul Ladenberger on July 23, 1954. She stopped working when her son Craig Allen was born on June 10, 1956. Her daughter Debra Ann was born on February 19, 1958. She returned to work at Michigan Bell Telephone in 1965 until her retirement in 1988. Nancy and Ed were divorced in 1984.

In her retirement years Nancy moved to Kingston, Washington to escape the Michigan winters (and be near Craig). There she served as Condo Homeowner President and started expanding her hobby of bird watching eventually spotting 1,256 bird species from around the world. Nancy was an active member of the Kitsap Audubon Society, at one point acting as president and in 2006 led the planning and organization of Audubon’s annual statewide conference. She was an active member of the Puget Sound Genealogy Society and had traced her lineage back to the 1400s. She moved to Crista Shores in 2002, volunteering there as Resident Council Treasurer and President. Nancy attended and volunteered at her church St. Antony’s Episcopal Church in Silverdale.

Nancy’s hobbies in retirement took her around the country and around the world. She visited all 50 US states and 41 countries including 8 of Canada’s provinces and all 6 states in Australia. She was very adventurous and loved talking with people during her numerous travels and solo road trips across the US. And Nancy loved taking cruises with her high school best friend Marge whom she reconnected with at their 50th high school reunion.

Nancy loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents George Walter Scofield Jr and Margaret Anderson Case; and her daughter Debra Ann Ladenberger. Nancy is survived by her son Craig and his wife Kathy; grandson Daniel Paul Ladenberger, his wife Sara and great-granddaughters Mila and Alina; and grandson Clayton Joseph Sauders, his wife Maria and great-granddaughter Esmay and great-grandson Orin.

The family would like to thank the staff of Crista Shores for the friendship, love and care they showed Nancy and her family in her time there.

Nancy will be interned at Miller Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bremerton, Washington.
