7/4/1958 – 6/19/2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nyla Simonetti-Grohs, aged 64 at time of passing. She entered God’s kingdom on Monday June 19th, 2023, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her.
Nyla was a loving and supportive Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Friend. She is survived by her son Matthew; Daughter-In-Law Tabitha; Grandson Troy; and sisters Ellen, Margie, Vivian, Kathy, and Shelly. Nyla was a loving cousin to many, both locally in Washington State, as well as around the country as she is from a large loving family. She is reunited with “Her Joe”, as well as her brother Gene, among other loved ones who have passed.
Nyla was born in Wessington Springs South Dakota in 1958 to Paul and Myra Grohs. She was part of a large family, being the second of six siblings and countless cousins. She took great pride in being from South Dakota, often calling herself a “farm girl” from her days before moving away from the farm. Nyla had many accomplishments in her life. Upon graduating high school from Pasco High School, Nyla went on to complete her bachelor’s degree from Eastern Washington University. She continued her educational goals by graduating from Gonzaga University with her master’s degree in education while making the dean’s list every quarter attending. She was able to live out her childhood dream of being a school teacher after graduating, teaching over 40+ years spanning school districts all over Western Washington. Nyla touched thousands of lives over her years teaching and was able to positively influence the lives of many students she taught.
Nyla was a loving Grandmother, Mother, Sister, Aunt, Friend, and Teacher. She was able to bring joy and happiness to any situation, and we thank her for always bringing that love into our lives. She always talked about family being the most important thing in the world to her, and her family will miss her dearly. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, loving heart, and her rendition of somewhere over the rainbow that she often did “off-key” on purpose.
A memorial will be held July 15th a Noon at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park 5505 Kitsap Way, Bremerton, WA 98312.
