Patricia Lee Artz

March 18, 1931March 27, 2021

Patricia Lee (O'Grady) Artz 90, of Bremerton, Washington, passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2021 from natural causes.

Pat was born in Great Falls, Montana, on March 18, 1931 to Elizabeth (Pilgeram) and Thomas O’Grady. She graduated from the University of Montana with her teaching degree in 1949 and received her Masters Degree in 1953 from the University of Oregon. Pat taught business for many years in Montana, Ohio, Oregon and Virginia.

It was at the University of Montana that Pat met the love of her life, Robert Artz, and they were married in Great Falls, Montana in 1955. Pat and Bob spent many happy years living in Springfield, Oregon; Annandale, Virginia; and Simi Valley, California.

Unfortunately their life together was tragically cut short when Bob was killed in a plane crash in 1979. After Bob’s untimely death, Pat remained in Simi Valley for 36 years until she moved to Bremerton, Washington, to be closer to family.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and sister Margaret (Peggy) Bearbower. She is survived by many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.

The family would like to thank “The Ridge” for all the support and loving care they have provided for the last 5 years.

Pat was like a sister to me in my early life. Her mother was my godmother. I looked up to Pat with her choices of dress. Both Pat and Peg filled a niche in my early life. I was born on her birthday and my mother had to tell her she could not be at her 5th birthday because she had a baby. The news of her death leaves a hole in my heart.

Patricia Artz is my aunt. I only wish I had known you lived so close so I could have known you better. I always thought you were such a picture of perfectness and absolutely belonged with Uncle Bob. You are now once again with the love of your life. Rest in peace Aunt Pat. I love you
