In June of 1968, she married Michael Hume, in Hurst and moved to Washington, then Hawaii where they spend 3 years before returning to Washington.
She worked for the Doctor's Clinic for more than 30 years and celebrated retirement in 2010 with a cruise to Alaska. She volunteered for the Purdy Prison Pet Partnership and she worked every public event that she could fit in her schedule.
Gail enjoyed traveling by motorcycle with Mike and even had her own set of leather riding gear.
She was an excellent dog trainer. In 2002 she got Ember, the first dog that was ever entirely hers. Ember and Gail needed each other. Ember was shy and needed someone to help her enjoy the world and Gail needed the chance to try something new. They eventually completed a Novice Rally Obedience title.
Gail became a fixture at area agility trials, supporting and cheering on her daughter, grandpups and friends, at events from Oregon to British Columbia. One friend described her as an "agility den mother" for her presence and support.
She would say she was a "non-quilter," but she would take scraps and projects that others hadn't finished and turn them into beautiful blankets that she would often donate, along with homemade scarves to the residents of her local Veteran's home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thelma and Calvin Coffin. She is survived by her husband, Michael, her daughter Adeanna Hume; her sister, Trudy (Stanley) Perritt, of Pooleville, Texas, 2 grandpups, Josie and Walker, many nieces, nephews and friends. She will be remembered as a beloved friend and family member.
Services will be held: Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Miller-Woodlawn in Bremerton, Washington.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Purdy Prison Pet Partnership at: 9601 Bujacich Road Nw, Gig Harbor, WA 98332. Phone: (253)858-4240, or email: [email protected]
