Ronnie Frye of Poulsbo beautifully passed from this life to his heavenly home on Wednesday, Sept. 12, surrounded by his devoted wife, Cheryl, and his children. Ronnie was born in Chattanooga, TN and was a proud veteran of the US Navy. While in the Navy, he served on the USS Samuel Gompers along with his twin brother, Donnie, and also on the USS Norton Sound. After the Navy, Ronnie moved to Bremerton with his young family where he has lived the past 47 years. Ron is a man of many talents and abilities. Over the years, he has endeared himself to many as a handyman and loyal friend. He enjoyed playing softball and bowling. More important than winning were the camaraderie, friendship and goodwill playing the sports brought not only to his own team but the opposing one as well. His infectious and encouraging personality attracted many individuals who soon became life-long friends.
Ronnie deeply loved his family & friends, but most importantly he loved his Savior, Jesus Christ. We have the assurance he is now celebrating with Him and others who went before him! He was preceded in death by his parents, Ike & Martha Frye, brothers James & Robert, sisters Louise & June and mother-in-law Mildred Collins-Arnold. Left to enjoy and cherish his memory are his wife and “angel” of 50 years, Cheryl; children Tonia & David Schmidt, Troy Frye, Britnee & John Stocking, god-daughter Leslie Brann and grand-daughters Ellie & Auna-Leah. He will also be lovingly remembered by brothers, Donnie Frye of Dallas, GA, and Lamar Frye of Ringgold, GA; sisters Beckie Frye, Rossville, GA; Betty Tullis, Winder, GA and Edna & Pam Frye, Ringgold, GA; brother-in-law, Hersh & Sheila Collins, Bremerton; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
A Celebration of Ronnie’s Life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22, at Clear Creek Baptist Church at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 1:30 until service time. The church is located on Clear Creek Road in Silverdale.
