Rose Marie Riehl and her late husband, Eugene, moved to Poulsbo in 1961 when Eugene became principal of North Kitsap High School, and lived there until 2013 when they moved to Port Orchard. Rose was born March 21, 1921, in Raleigh, North Dakota, to Emil and Irene Kopp, who had immigrated from Russia at the turn of the 20th century. She was the middle child of eleven and had five sisters and five brothers. They were raised on the family farm and got used to working hard between sessions at school. Rose married Eugene on August 25, 1941, and they celebrated their 73rd anniversary shortly before his passing in 2014. She worked for a number of years at Kitsap Federal Credit Union and, along with Eugene, was an active parishioner at St. Olaf Catholic Church in Poulsbo. Rose is survived by three sons: Gene, of La Jolla, California; Richard, of Carlsbad, California; and Jim, of Port Orchard Washington. In addition, she leaves nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
