Tommy was a character and truly great guy. He leaves behind his wife Elaine M Santangelo and her two daughters Natalie and Ariana and Ariana’s partner David. He also leaves his wonderful Aunt Jewell at age 95 living on her own. Also, his son Jimmy and wife Greta and grandsons Tyler and wife Megan, Quinn, and great grandson Hayes. Tommy also had two previous wives Nancy and Deanna whose son Doug considered Tommy his dad. He was a seaman.
That is because Tommy spent his life at sea with either the Marines, the Navy, or the Delta Queen Steamboat Company. He was an engineer aboard the ships that made them go. It was our joke because he could always be found doing yard work but really spent his life at sea. He also shrimp fished with his sister’s company in Louisiana.
SNUG Harbor in New York is an organization in New York established by an old sea captain who has a continuous trust fund and mission to help other sailors who spend their life at sea and helped Tommy out. Please consider memorial donations to them in his honor.
Tommy was also a VFW member and overall good man who would help others when asked. He will be missed by many including the two dogs in his life Gumbo from Louisiana and Arcturus, Natalie’s husky. Tommy loved animals and would talk to them often especially the eight canaries we have at home who are named Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton and their offspring Mo, Curly, Jules, Wynkin, Blynkin, and Nod.
