Timothy Richard Bishop, 68, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away on July 27th after a two year battle with cancer. Tim was born on June 3, 1956 to Lawrence Hillard Bishop and Dorothy Mae (Diehl) Bishop in Fort Wayne, IN. After Tim graduated from Carroll High School in 1975, he completed his carpenter apprenticeship and dedicated the next 40 years of his life to the trade.
Tim was a proud member of the Carpenter Local 232 and retired as a Superintendent for The Hagerman Group. His passion for his trade was evident as he readily shared his knowledge with those he led, local students, and his nephews. Other interests Tim shared with his family were his love for being outdoors, camping, whitewater rafting, and being an avid reader. He was a skilled storyteller and shared much wit and wisdom through his recounting of history and memories. Many of those memories were of his life-long Arcola community made up of cherished friends and neighbors.
In 2019, Tim retired and spent his time enjoying some of his favorite hobbies: horticulture, golf, and reading. In 2023, Tim moved to Gig Harbor, WA to be closer to his grandchildren. He quickly became a staple figure at tee ball games, soccer games, and Sunday family dinners.
Tim is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sharon; daughters Andrea Corona (Joe) and Amanda Locke (Mike); his cherished grandchildren Maria, Amanda, Joshua, Matthew, and Makenna. He is also remembered by his siblings Margaret Balliet, Martha Ferguson, John Bishop, and William Bishop, as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Lawrence and mother Dorothy.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo. This is an organization Tim has loved and supported for many years. He had the privilege of being involved in building the Indonesian Rainforest Exhibit (now part of the Asian Trek) with The Hagerman Group, and he always found joy in watching his children and grandchildren explore all the wonders the zoo has to offer.
Gifts can be made online, or call 260-427-6800, ext 151.
