Timothy Jon Lengel

of Bremerton

Nov. 24, 1949

to Jan. 5, 2013

Timothy Jon Lengel, 63, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at Swedish Hospital in Seattle. He was born on Nov. 24, 1949 at Tacoma General Hospital to Herbert and Edna Lengel.

Tim grew up in Bremerton, attended West High School and graduated in 1968. After high school, he attended Olympic College in Bremerton, where he studied business administration. Tim began to work for Marion's Interiors, starting his career in retail. Tim joined J.C. Penney Corporation and held several positions. While advancing his career over 16 years, he moved to several locations — from Tacoma to Anchorage, Alaska and eventually resigning as an operations manager in San Jose, Calif. In 1991, he moved to Kent and established his own company, known as the Drapery Showroom. In the years preceding his passing, he worked in sales for S.C.I. and as the National Sr. Account Manager for the Kitsap Sun.

Tim married his high school sweetheart, Joyce Libby, on June 20, 1970 at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Bremerton. They were happily married for over 42 years as Tim dedicated his life to raising his family. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and always had an open door to friends and family for gatherings. He never hesitated to show off his skills at the art of barbecuing, and had a sense of humor to always entertain. Tim spent his life never thinking of himself and always serving others. He spent many years helping others through the Rotary Club and his faith. Tim was an active member of Silverdale Rotary and Silverdale Lutheran Church. He set an example for others in service as he volunteered as a Boy Scout leader and coach.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Herb and Edna Lengel. Tim is survived by his spouse, Joy of Bremerton; his children, Troy Lengel (Amy), Todd Lengel (Brigitte), Heather Lengel Dryden (Damon) and Herb Lengel (Sarah); his sisters, Dianna (Jerry) Perrine of Spokane and Mary Olsen of Edwardsville, Ill.; his 11 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and family.

A graveside service and burial will be held at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park (5505 Kitsap Way, Bremerton) at 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, followed by a memorial service at Silverdale Lutheran Church (11701 Ridgepoint, Silverdale) at 11:30 a.m. A visitation will be held at Miller-Woodlawn from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 10.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Silverdale Rotary Club Foundation (PO Box 151, Silverdale, WA 98383-0151). Condolences may be left on Tim Lengel's CaringBridge website at
