

Virginia was born 2/16/1939 in Seattle, WA, to parents Fornando and Elizabeth (Evans) Thornton. She graduated from Highline High School in 1957.
Virginia married her sweetheart Herbert L Wengel on Feb 10, 1956, in Everett, and they remained together till Herbert's passing in 2009.
Virginia made a 30-year career of civil service in Montana and Washington, retiring in 2015.
Virginia was an avid member of Manchester Community Church for over 33 years, where she loved to sing and participate in church cantatas. She loved to read, watch old shows, crochet afghans, bake (and eat) goodies, and host and attend tea parties. She also loved to fold clothes, which she did until the last week of her life.
A memorial service will be held for Virginia, March 18, 2023, at 1:00 pm, at Manchester Community Church. Her remains will be laid to rest with her husband at Tahoma National Cemetery.
Virginia is preceded in death by her daughter and son in law, Cindy (Wengel) and George Angel, great grandson Jack Ryan Angel, and brothers Donnie Thornton, Kenneth Thornton and his wife Joyce.
Virginia is survived by sons Robert Wengel and wife Donna of Las Vegas, NV, and Glenn Wengel and wife Carol of Phoenix, AZ; daughter Carol Wengel of Port Orchard, WA. She is also survived by brother George Thornton (wife Rachel); 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, many wonderful nieces and nephews, and dear friends.
