He was the second of 4 sons born to Harold and Mary Unruh. Raised in Bermuda, he attended Mt. St. Agnes Academy and entered the United States Navy in 1965. His service in the Navy led him to Norfolk, Virginia, Providence, Rhode Island and Bremerton, Washington. Upon discharge from the US Navy in 1969, he became employed at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton until his retirement in 2001.
In 1977 he married Beverly Arena, and together they raised their two children, Joel, and Melinda on Phinney Bay in Bremerton.
After retirement in 2001, Bill and Bev spent time traveling in their RV and spending time in Arizona. They moved to Belfair in 2007 and lived at Trails End Lake.
He leaves to mourn his wife, Beverly, son Joel, daughter Melinda, and grandchildren, Kingston, and Karma, along with his brothers, Anthony, Gregory (Amy), and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be said beginning at 11am on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard.
