

Alvin Greene Jr. was born to the late Delphia Mae Blackwell Greene and Alvin Greene Sr. on June 1, 1932, in Greenville, SC. He grew up in a home that was rich with love for the Lord and each other. Alvin and his eleven siblings attended Enoree Baptist Church, in Greenville, SC. Alvin accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior early in life.
Alvin shared a loving and close relationship with all of his eleven siblings, many nieces, and nephews. He graduated from Sterling High School and joined the United States Army. He moved to Washington, DC after receiving a honorable discharge where he married Barbara Ann Bright. They lovingly raised two daughters, Monique Cosby, and Monette Greene. Alvin retired from the Department of Treasury after 30 years of service.
Alvin was an avid sports fan, enjoyed playing cards and watching all sports, especially football. He enjoyed playing tennis and golf in his early years; and listening to music and spending time with family and friends.
Alvin was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Ann Bright, three sisters Christine Greene Bratton, Ella Mae Greene, Juanita Harper Mills and three brothers, Charlie Greene, Anthony Greene, and George Greene.
He will be forever be cherished and loved by his daughters, Monique Cosby of Oxon Hill, MD and Monette Greene of Bryans Road, MD, siblings: Rose Ann Greene Montgomery of Greenville, SC, Isaiah Greene of Greenville, SC, Eliza Dennis of Simpsonville, SC, Susie Jane Rosemond of Greenville, SC, Wallace Greene of San Francisco, brother in-law: Alvin Dennis of Simpsonville, SC and Bill Vicini of, San Francisco, and a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great, great nieces and nephews and friends.
