

Annie Bell Gordon submitted to the will of our Holy Father on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at the Carroll Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Washington, D.C. She was one of nine children born on Thursday, December 1, 1932 to the late Peacher and Amy Young.
Annie Bell received her early education in the public schools of Walhalla, South Carolina where she grew up. She came to know Christ at an early age while attending the Double Spring Baptist Church in her hometown.
Annie Bell moved to Washington, D.C. as a young woman. She performed with a gospel-singing group named The Young Spirituals that sang in many churches throughout the metropolitan area until they separated. Annie Bell met and married the love of her life, Albert Gordon and from this union they had no children.
Annie Bell became a member of the Southern Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Charles H. Doom, Jr. She served on the Nurses Ministry of which she was a secretary. She also served on the Pastoral Care Ministry. She continued to serve in the church faithfully until she became ill.
Annie Bell worked for the Hilton Hotels. Later, she worked as a supervisor for the General Services Administration at the Pentagon. She retired from this job in 1994 with 27 ½ years of service.
Annie Bell is preceded in death by her parents; four brothers Jeroy, James, Willie, and John; four sisters Nellie Mae Love, Lillie Mae Cleveland, Corine Young, and Adline Keels.
To cherish her memories are two sisters-in-law, Lottie Young of Washington, D.C. and Doris Young of Danville, Virginia, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other family members and friends.
