Anthony Eisley McQueen (Tony Mack) passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023. He was born on October 15, 1961, and spent much of his youth on 58th & Blaine in Northeast D.C. He was the youngest son of the late Alberta Virginia McQueen and the late Abraham Lincoln Rorie.
Anthony graduated from H.D. Woodson Senior High School in June 1979. After his commencement, he joined the U.S. Navy, and served for four years. When Anthony returned, he promptly enrolled in Bladensburg Barber School. He worked as a Master Barber for much of his life, but his first job was as a paperboy. He and his brother, Timothy, would wake up around 4 A.M., deliver newspapers across Prince George's County, and then go to elementary school together. It was a tough job for a child, but it fostered independence, which proved valuable throughout his life.
In the 90s, Anthony decided to cultivate his love of driving by getting a Commercial Driver's License. After completing his CDL training, he operated a bus for Yellow Transportation, delivered propane and other specialty gases for Matheson Tri-Gas, transported produce for Lancaster Foods, distributed chlorine to pools around the DMV area for Amato Industries, and so much more.
Despite being a loyal employee, Anthony was a family man through and through. In 1983, he met his best friend, Tracy, who became his wife. They were practically inseparable from the first day they met on her porch. While their personalities were opposite, they balanced each other out well. Tracy was the yin to his yang, and the two spent more than 35 years together.
Anyone who knew Anthony would tell you he was down-to-earth but outspoken. He had a radiant smile and a signature mustache. He loved blasting music of every genre, cooking and trying different cuisines, dressing up in his finest clothes, exploring new places, listening to comedy tapes (especially Eddie Murphy, Redd Foxx, and Richard Pryor), making friends practically everywhere he went, playing the lottery or gambling at casinos, reading books, styling hair, taking long drives, telling stories, and writing poetry.
Anthony was preceded in death by his brother, Willie James McQueen, and later by his wife in 2021. He was heartbroken when Tracy passed away, but must be overjoyed to be reunited with her now.
Anthony leaves behind his daughter, Mapricionne McQueen, his son, Ordale Allen, and one granddaughter, Zoe Allen. He also leaves to cherish his memory, his loving siblings, Kenneth McQueen (Willie), Juanita Tibbs (Larry), Gwendolyn Coleman, and Timothy McQueen; devoted nieces and nephews, Vaughn McQueen, Frederika Lewis (Andre), David Butler, Anita McQueen, Kahaiah McQueen, Latyna Joy McQueen, Timothy R. McQueen Jr., Don Coleman, Cedric Kearney, and a whole host of loving and dedicated great-nieces and nephews.
