Arlin Eugene Messersmith

85, of Chester, Maryland, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by family.

Born in Little Orleans, Maryland, Arlin was one of seven children of Rosco and Selina (O’Neil) Messersmith. He is survived by his loving wife, Jackie; his five children: Allen, Sheila (Gene), Glen (Lori), Kevin (Brenda) and Arlin Jr. (Theresa); two stepsons and one stepdaughter. He was a proud grandfather to CJ, Ciara, Candice, Nina, Melissa, Madalyn, Savanah, Jeremy, Kevin Jr., Justin, Seth, and many others, as well as a great-grandfather to eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Geraldine; a stepdaughter; and two of his brothers.

Arlin was a hardworking drywall contractor and home builder for over 40 years. He enjoyed tinkering with anything that needed fixing, tending to his vegetable garden, riding his tractor, and restoring antique vehicles. One of his favorite pastimes was watching WWE with his dogs.

Arlin will be remembered as a generous and loving man who always provided for his family and helped anyone in need. He will be greatly missed.

A graveside service for Arlin will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home & Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Rd, Brentwood, MD 20722.
