Today we celebrate the life and homegoing of Arthur Felton Reed Sr. Arthur was born October 30,1940, the youngest child of two from the late Arthur Henry Reed and Willie Camps of South Carolina. He and his older brother, James (late) were born and grew up in Washington DC . He received his early education from St. Augustine Catholic School, culminating with his graduation in 1958 from Armstrong High School. He was voted "Most Likely to Succeed" by his peers and faculty. Shortly after graduation he wed the love of his life, Joyce Elizabeth Dickerson (late) in May of 1959. He worked as driver for Maxwell and Tennyson Drugstore for several years before moving on to The National Academy of Sciences for over 20 years. He retired from BAE systems after 25 years of service in 2010. But work didn't stop there, he continued part time with Maryland Park and Planning on their event staff.
His life was filled and fulfilled with Family and work. He enjoyed listening to jazz music, watching Westerns, crime dramas and the Washington Football team. As the Patriarch of the family his absence will resonate amongst us forever until we see each other again.
He is survived by his three children Nadine Redman, Arthur F. Reed Jr., and Anthony M. Reed (Katrina). Grandchildren Chattell, Crystal (Dawron), Anthony Jr., Danielle, James (Cassandra) , Dana (Robert), Arkia, Bruce and Trey. Great grandchildren Kim Jr., Jordan, Marley, Cruz, Ryleigh, Reagan, Braelynn, Bryson, Blaze, Reyna, Lola, Stephon, Reign, Semaj, Aubri, Sanyiah, and Syaire. Sister in Laws Hilda Reed, Mary Dickerson, Zelda Dickerson and JoAnn Dickerson. Nephews Kevin and Rollin and nieces Karen, Theresa and Tamara.
