Barbara Diane Coates was born in Washington, D.C., on September 5, 1936, and peacefully entered eternal rest on July 28, 2026.
Barbara was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was the devoted wife of the late Donald Coates and the loving mother of eight children. She is also survived by a host of relatives and dear friends.
She will be remembered for the love she shared and the lasting impact she made on all who were blessed to know her.
The family will receive family and friends on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 920 11th St NE, Washington, DC 20002, from 10:00 a.m. until the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, 4001 Suitland Road, Suitland, Maryland 20746.
