Barbara Jean Lightfoot was born on August 7, 1934 in Newberry, SC. She departed this life on August 30, 2019 at Future Care Health facility after an extended illness. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elvira and Henry P. Wilson, Sr., her sister, Ethel Garrett, her brothers, Douglas and Henry P. Wilson, Jr., and her daughter, Lynda L. Brooks.

In 1951 she married her childhood sweetheart, the late Richard R. Lightfoot. To this union, four children were born: Lynda, June, Rodney and Phyllis Lightfoot.

She worked for many years as a supermarket meat wrapper. Following her retirement in 1996, she was able to enjoy additional time gardening and maintaining her home. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Highland Park. For church service, she enjoyed putting together well coordinated outfits which always included hats from her extensive collection. She was warmhearted, straightforward and attentive to her family. She was a strategic money manager and rarely impulsive.

She leaves to cherish her memories, two loving daughters, June Lightfoot and Phyllis Lightfoot; a devoted son, Rodney Lightfoot; one sister, Margaret Ann Sexton; sister-in-law, Margarite McIntyre; nine special grandchildren; thirteen exceptional great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
