
Barbara Jean Ross-Darden, a beloved and cherished resident of Suitland, Maryland, passed away on November 14, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on January 8, 1950, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Bill and Cora Ranch.
Barbara received her education in the Washington, D.C. school system, graduating in 1968. She married Johnny Ross in 1969 and later remarried John Darden. Barbara's career began at Control Data Institute in 1969, where she worked until 1978. She then joined the General Services Administration (GSA) in 1979 and remained there until her retirement.
In her earlier years, Barbara was fondly known as BJ, Blackie, Stink, and Mom. She was a compassionate, devoted, inspirational, and kind-hearted individual who loved being surrounded by family. Always the first to lend a helping hand, Barbara ensured that everything was all right for those around her.
Barbara enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, visiting casinos, playing cards, and spending time with her best friend of 20 years, Baylor. She was also a devoted fan of the Washington Redskins.
Barbara Ross-Darden leaves behind two sons, John and Derek Ross; two daughters-in-law, Tishma and Maria Ross; one brother, Ellis; one sister, Dora; and a wide host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will cherish her memory.
