

Bernice was born October 19, 1932 in Washington, DC to the late Freeman Ferguson and Ella Nance Ferguson. She relished her upbringing with her brothers, Thomas and Fredrick Ferguson and the many extended family members for whom she maintained lifelong relationships.
As a young adult, Bernice attended DC Public Schools completing her high school education at Cardozo High School. She began her college coursework at the University of Maryland, College Park.
At the age of 23, Bernice began her joyful career with the National Security Agency as a data systems analyst in 1955, retiring after 42 years of service. While at the NSA, Bernice was one of few African American's that served on the Promotion Board, for GS employees. She was a member of Women in NSA and Black Impressions at NSA.
Bernice immersed herself in spending time with family by hosting family cookouts, traveling around the world with family and friends, knitting, puzzles, and going to the casino.
Bernice was a member of Largo Community Church, Largo Maryland, under the ministry of H. Jack Morris, Pastor.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Harold (Nicky) Harriston, and daughter, Lori Sealy. One daughter-in-law, Brenda Harriston; ten grandchildren: Nikia, Shondell, Aryel, JR, Miriam, Felicia, Theretha, Frankie, Bryan, and Brieana; and four great-grandchildren: Gabriel, Kai, Isaiah, Leilah and many devoted family, friends and caring neighbors.

It is a short journey from birth until death.
