Bert  was a true ICON — a beautiful woman and a dedicated and valued part of our 
M-NCPPC Family. She had a precious smile, 
a loving heart, and was wonderfully infused with a healthy dose of fun-loving mischief! 😎.  She SEIZED LIFE  & INSPIRED US by her example! How blessed we are that an AMAZING, AGELESS woman named Bert came our way and touched our hearts… ♥️

I am going to miss my dear, sweet, beautiful friend Bert Vito. We met and 2000 at M-NCPPC. I was working in Park Permits and Bert was in administrative staff. We hit it off immediately. Bert loved many things flowers, scratch tickets, Ledo's pizza with sausage and green peppers, reading books, traveling to South Carolina, but most of all she loved her friends and family dearly. She was a very special lady and I will miss her with all my heart.

One of the LOL's Ladies gifted Bert with this butterfly throw on her birthday.  After the pandemic hit, we brought the party to Bert's home to continue the laughing out loud. Many fun times there with Bert and our group. Bert was and still is a butterfly.

This photo of Bert was shared by Pat Furmage who worked with us in the division office. It's an oldie but goodie for sure, as Pat would say. And as Bert would say, "we had the best office!".

A great memory we had with Bert was when Michele Starr (from the SHWD Office) organized a trip to Nepenthe. This was Bert's first time to see Brian's restaurant and we were proud to be a part of that day.  The three of us made a stop at the Horseshoe Casino (yep) beforehand to try our luck and then on to a late lunch to surprise Brian and Jill at their restaurant and brewing company. Brian and Jill were so happy to see Bert and gave us the grand tour. Bert helped us try out a flight of beers (yummy of course) and I've got to say it was the best hamburger ever! Now that is a day to remember!

You will never find a more beautiful person inside and out than Bert. From the first time I met her at M-NCPPC she was such a bright light in my life. She hugged me when I needed it most, made me laugh, gave me joy, and helped me when I seemed lost, and she always did it with a smile. She will be very missed, but I know she will be watching over all of us <3

We loved celebrating with Bert for all of our birthdays and we will miss her greatly. Since the pandemic, we did all of our celebrating in Bert's carport, driveway, or home. Bert loved all the laughter and food we brought. lol

This photo was taken at the Sugar Ray Leonard Gym where the Sports, Health & Wellness Admin Staff were taken on a tour. Bert didn't hesitate to put on the boxing gloves and give it a try.

Bert, shown in the photo for August Appreciation Ambush, participated in many work events. We all loved her spunk and she loved working at M-NCPPC which she referred to as her Commission family. Everyone knew and loved Bert. She touched many lives over her 23+ years with the Commission.

The LOL Ladies, of which Bert was a huge part of (and really was the reason for our name) celebrated Bert's birthday in a big way for her 95th. We laughed, told stories, ate cake, and enjoyed the beautiful day together. We will miss Bert but know that her wish is for us to all continue laughing out loud.

To Carmela and the rest of the cousins from the Salem VA cousin. Bertha Gray you are missed so very much! I just remember all the trips to N Myrtle Beach and all the fun we had. And you were such a great hostess when I took the train from Roanoke to New Carrollton. I had a wonderful weekend. So I love you and I will see you later! Tell Mom hello for me!

My heart is breaking with the loss of our dear Bert. She was the epitome of a kind, caring, loving lady. 
Our LOLs will definitely miss her beautiful smile and wonderful laughter.
Bert was my inspiration and very precious friend. God truly blessed my life with having Bert in it. I love you and miss you dear Bert.
