Bobbie Lewis Thompson was born in Charlotte County, Virginia, to the late Marie Overbey and Albert Thompson on February 22, 1949. He departed this earthly life on Thursday, March 2, 2023 following a lengthy illness. He fought a good fight for many years but finally grew tired from the struggle and went home to be with the LORD, his mother, father, two sisters and two brothers.
Bobbie is the eighth child of ten siblings, four of which preceded him in death, sisters, Pearline and Anna, brothers, James and Bennett. He attended Charlotte County Public School and joined Mossingford Baptist Church at an early age. He relocated to Washington, DC in 1968 and later to Alexandria, VA.
Bobbie was married in 1976 and from that union two daughters were born, Shiela and Gina Thompson who resides in Olympia, Washington.
Bobbie enjoyed helping others at the Kennedy Homeless Shelter and serving food to the homeless at the Alexandria Baptist Church. Bobbie was a “happy go lucky person”, always smiling and hugging people whether he knew them or not. He had a love for fishing, going to the car race tracks, listening to Oldies but Goodies music and dancing.
Bobbie leaves behind a host of loved ones who will forever cherish his memory: loving and devoted sisters and brothers, Leola Jenkins (George), Idenia Campbell, Daniel Thompson, Douglas Thompson and Leonard (Linda) Thompson, a devoted nephew, Ernest Thompson, one grandson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
