Carolyn D. Hawkins

On the morning of February 27, 2025, Carolyn Delores Hawkins Ellis’s body went into distress, and she succumbed to death immediately after being transported to the hospital by the Fire Department paramedics.

Carolyn Delores Hawkins Ellis, 69 years of age, of College Park, Maryland, died at Adventist Health Care, on February 27, 2025.

Carolyn was born on August 2, 1956, in Tarry Arkansas to Novella Ellis. Eugene Hawkins, Carolyn’s stepfather, married her mother one month after she was born. Carolyn’s family moved from Arkansas to Chicago, Illinois in 1961. She was educated in the public schools of Chicago. She worked at the Hebrew Theological College for many years with her mother. Carolyn permanently moved to Maryland in 2019 to be close to her sister, Diane Goodwin, and lived there until her death.

Carolyn gave her life to Christ at an early age and attended church regularly. Her greatest passion was love of family and taking care of her nieces and nephews when they were young, and as they grew up. Carolyn also enjoyed family gatherings, traveling with family to different places such as New York, California, and back to her birthplace, Arkansas.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her mother, Novella Hawkins, her stepfather Eugene Hawkins, and her aunt Juanita Hawkins. She is survived by her sister, Diane Goodwin, her brother Odell Briggs, nieces, nephews and a host of cousins, and friends.
