

Charles McKinley Shannon entered eternal rest on Monday, January 12, 2015. Charles was born to the late Charles Shannon and Delores Shannon on December 4, 1951 in Washington DC. He received his education in the District of Columbia public schools, attending Barnard Elementary, Paul Junior High, and Roosevelt Senior High Schools in NW Washington DC. Charles continued his education through the Federal City College now known as the University of the District of Columbia.
Charles worked for the US House of Representatives, for 23 years. He transitioned to Sgt. Shannon with Allied Barton Security as a Special Police. Charles’ leisure time was dedicated to bowling and his family. Charles married the late Twanda B. Heath-Shannon on August 28, 1976, in Washington, DC. They had two children, Trina and Steven Shannon.
Charles accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 18. He was a faithful member of the Church of Christ, 3100 13th Street, NW, Washington DC. He was active in the youth group in his early years. He became the Assistant Director of Christian Education and led many souls to Christ. Charles’ ministry was demonstrated through songs for the Lord. He served as a member of the Christian Echoes and Sounds for Christ singing groups for many years.
To cherish his memory he leaves a daughter Trina Shannon-Goodman; daughter-in-law Tonya Goodman; a son Steven Shannon; his mother Delores Shannon; a brother Melvin; a host of relatives; his companion Pam Hayes; friends; and colleagues.
