Christopher Columbus Snipes Jr., known to many as "June", transitioned at home in Takoma Park, Maryland, on April 2, 2021. He was born to Christopher Columbus Snipes Sr and Fannie Alberta Snipes on September 24, 1940 in Caswell County, North Carolina. He was the second of seven children.
Christopher grew up helping his family on the farm and later moved to Washington, D.C. seeking employment. He worked several different jobs then worked for Metro for many years until he retired. He married twice, both are now deceased, including his second wife, Glenda Faye Saunders Snipes. He attended Springfield Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. He sang on the choir and was active in his church.
Christopher leaves behind four children: Christopher Maurice Cooper, Karol Ann Wonsom, Katrieia Nichele Jones, Christopher Jon Snipes, two step sons: Kenneth Wonsom and Wayne Wonsom, and one step daughter, Cheryl Abbott. He leaves five grandchildren: Dalonta Wonsom, Brian Wonsom, Bryana Wonsom, Autumn Snipes, and Christian Poke.
He loved his children and grandchildren. He was very gifted in playing the piano, which he loved so much. He always made time to play a song for anyone who was willing to hear--even to the very end.
He was a man of few words, but always made time to listen. He loved fishing as his pastime, and cooking. All that knew him loved him. He lived a good life serving the Lord, not worrying, and being free. What he loved most of all was family and God. Cherished family: Sister Shelia V. Locke and Brother-in-Law Leslie Locke Sr. Preceded him in life, Sister Dorthine Speight, Brother Fremon Snipes, Brother Gerald Snipes, Brother Eddie Snipes, Brother Douglas Snipes.
Nephews: Darryl Coleman, Johnathan Coleman, Titus Coleman, Jarrell Speight, Kevin Snipes, Leslie Locke Jr. Nieces: Kiahnna Burney, Patrice Smith, One great granddaughter, Serenity Wonsom, Two aunts: Juanita Hooper and Everleen Fox, One special cousin, Shirley Reid, and a host of other cousins, relatives, and friends.
