

Born November 11, 1935 to Birdie Pace Archie and Fulton M. Archie. She was the youngest of 3 children; 2 older brothers Jewel R. Archie (deceased) and Hurley R. Archie (deceased) all of Rankin Co. Mississippi.
She accepted Jesus as her Savior at an early age at Pilgrim Branch Missionary Baptist Church. She was a school teacher in Canton Public Schools in her early career and taught there until she married. She was united in holy matrimony to Edward D. Merriweather and relocated to Washington, DC August 24, 1967. From this union 2 children were born Birdie M. Tynes and Charles E. Merriweather.
She taught for 38 years in DC Public School System and retired in 1995. Her education included a Bachelor of Science in Education from Jackson State University 1987, a Masters in Education at University of Chicago in 1959, a Masters Degree in Reading and Mathematics from University of the District of Columbia in 1978 and a Certificate in Mathematics from Georgetown University 1983.
She also served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years at First Baptist Church and a faithful member of the Deaconess Board. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing with her children and grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memory husband, Edward D. Merriweather; children Birdie M. Tynes and Charles E. Merriweather; grandchildren La'Vonne, Valencia, and Natalie Tynes; a son in law DeVaugh O Tynes and a hostof relatives and friends
Family will receive friends and family on December 22, 2017 at First Baptist Church, 712 Randolph Street, NW, Washington DC 20011 at 10 am until time of service at 11 am. Interment at Fort Lincoln Cemetery.
