A Committal Service will be held at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 BLADENSBURG RD, BRENTWOOD, MD 20722, US, on August 28, 2026, from 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm.

Cynthia Hales, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished member of her family, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, family, and beautiful memories that will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Cynthia attended Cardozo High School, where she met the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Donald Hales. Their love continued beyond their school years, and they were blessed to share a lifetime together as husband and wife.

Cynthia dedicated many years of her life to serving with the United States Government Printing Office, where she faithfully worked until her retirement. Cynthia’s faith was an important part of her life. In the early 1990s, she gave her life to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, beginning a personal walk with Him that she carried throughout her life. She was a longtime and faithful member of LeDetroit Baptist Church, where she worshipped until she was no longer able to attend in person.

Even when she could no longer regularly attend church, Cynthia continued to nurture her relationship with the Lord. She remained devoted to spending time with God through her daily devotion and prayer. Sunday mornings were also special to her, as she enjoyed watching Pastor Charles Stanley and listening to the Word of God. Her faith remained a source of comfort, strength, and peace throughout her life.

Above all, Cynthia treasured her family. She and Donald were blessed with four children, who were a tremendous source of love and pride throughout her life. Family was at the center of Cynthia’s heart, and the love she poured into those around her will continue to live on through generations.

Cynthia had a special appreciation for the beauty of nature. She loved trees, flowers, especially sunflowers, and the peaceful beauty of the outdoors. Among her favorite things were butterflies, which she could watch for hours. She also had a special love for elephants because, to Cynthia, they represented family, loyalty, strength, and togetherness, values that beautifully reflected the way she loved and cherished her own family.

Those who knew Cynthia will remember her for her love of family, her generous and giving spirit, her faith in the Lord, her appreciation for the simple beauty of nature, and the special way she found meaning and joy in the things she loved.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, Hank and Sarah Harrison; her beloved husband, Donald Hales; and her siblings, Stanley, Clinton and Philip Harrison. She leaves to cherish her memory her four children, Donald Hales, Donna Adams, Brenda McCoy (Lloyd, Sr.), and Stanley Hales (Donniel); her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.

Her love was her legacy, her family was her heart, and her faith was her foundation. Her memory will forever bloom like the flowers and butterflies she loved so dearly.

May Cynthia rest peacefully in the presence of the Lord, surrounded by His everlasting love and remembered always by the family she cherished so deeply.
