Daniel “Ron” Ferguson, 64, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021, at Washington Medstar Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. Affectionately called “Danny” or “Ron” by close friends and family, he was born on September 28, 1956, in Washington, D.C. He was raised by his maternal grandparents, specifically Max Ferguson, who died when Danny was sixteen years old. After his grandfather’s death Danny began living on his own. Despite the loss of his grandfather, he went on to graduate from H.D. Woodson Senior High School in 1975. After high school Danny briefly attended college and also worked a handful of jobs for a short period before transitioning to full time employment at D.C.’s Water and Sewer Authority (WASA).
Anyone who knew Danny knew he was a hard-working man. He retired from WASA after twenty-nine and a half years of government service. During the same period Danny worked a second full-time position for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). For 12 years Danny worked two full time jobs. He spent his days working full time for WASA and his nights working full time as a facilities manager at the FBI. Danny wanted nothing more than to be financially independent in order to provide for his only son and to one day be a homeowner. God blessed Danny to reach both of his goals, and for this, he was always grateful.
Danny’s home was his crown jewel. His eye for detail and design was extraordinary. Over the years he meticulously selected each piece of furniture, each towel, floor mat, throw rug, outlet cover, lamp shade, cabinet color, pillowcase, and trinket. Everything blended perfectly in color and symmetry. He took great pride in maintaining every internal and external crevice of his home in a way that only he could do.
Danny believed in working hard, saving, budgeting and sacrificing in order to reach his dreams. Throughout the years he often imparted this wisdom to his son and others close to him.
Danny is survived by his son, Donovan “Donnell” Ferguson and his brother, Steven Thomas.
