He was born on October 15, 1950, in Washington, D.C., to the late Emmett and LaRuth Graves.
A proud graduate of Eastern High School, Derrick served his country in the U.S. Army before embarking on a long career of service to others. He worked for the United States Postal Service, then dedicated over ten years to S.O.M.E. (So, Others Might Eat), where he delivered meals to the elderly. Derrick’s work ethic continued at Colonial Parking, from which he retired.
