

DeWayne was a proud graduate of Howard University. He attended Howard University from 1976 to 1980 and earned a degree in Political Science.
DeWayne had an important and fulfilling career in public service working in the federal government. During his career, he worked diligently as an integral member of a team to allocate a significant amount of federal grants to non-profit organizations and historically-black colleges.
DeWayne was a devoted member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity. He was one of the leaders in the fraternity and served on the committee that allocated thousands of dollars in scholarships to African-Americans to assist them to attend college. He also served as a mentor to his fraternity brothers.
DeWayne was also an avid sports fan. He enjoyed attending football, basketball, hockey, and baseball games. With the exception of the New York Yankees, he followed Washington’s sports teams with unwavering interest and support. Finaly, in the summer he enjoyed traveling to Southern Maryland to fish.
First and foremost, DeWayne focused on his family. For instance, while his son Keith was playing little league football, DeWayne not only attended every game but attended almost every practice. His love and attention to Carla and Keith was unmatched.
He is survived by his wife Carla Bowers Wynn and his son DeWayne Keith Wynn, II. His memory will be cherished by his mother, Lucy A. Wynn, sister, Monica Wynn Berry, and his brother, Horace Montee Wynn, Jr, and their families.
Visitation will be held at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home, 3401 Bladensburg Rd. Brentwood, MD on April 18, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 pm.
