Donald Francis Harrington was born December 13th, 1930, in Washington DC to the late Anna Jackson Harrington and William McKinley Harrington. He was the youngest son of five children. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Paul, Wendell {Bobby}, and Reginald {Reggie}. He was also preceded in death by his wife Brenda Rawles Harrington.
Donald was educated in the DC Public School System: Mott Elementary, Paul Jr. High and Dunbar Sr. High. He continued his education and graduated from Howard University where he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree. He also attended Howard University Law School. He attended Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
Donald served in the United States Marine Corp where he received an Honorable Discharge. He later decided to become an entrepreneur owning his own CAB Transportation Service, D. Harrington TAXI CAB where he had regular prominent clients such as the late great Red Foxx, Sammy Davis Jr and Dick Gregory, just to name a few. And of course, longtime favorite was his dear friend Dr. Julianne Malveaux, Economist and Author who he adored. While driving his clients he enjoyed telling the great history of Washington DC with a little touch of the contagious humor he had. His intellect, wisdom, and wit would be the hallmark of his life. Donald loved to bring practical knowledge everywhere he saw fit, and it was loved by all. Through the years Donald found a select group of Elite friendships that lasted a lifetime the “First Team” Club on U Street with his “Club Anonymous” members, his buddies. He loved to socialize, and he was always the life of the party. He often invited close friends and family to his beautiful home where they would make the best of memories enjoying each other’s company and laughter. He also loved giving advice on healthy, alternative wholistic issues on living a healthy lifestyle.
Donald was an avid lover of all sports. The Washington Redskins, now Washington Commanders, Washington Nationals, and the Wizards. He also loved horse racing (The Kentucky Derby). Donald also loved and cared for animals by having two cats Casey & Lacey whom he loved so much.
Donald married Maria- Lori Queen Harrington in 2013 and they both shared the love of sports together. Maria-Lori was his partner, companion, soulmate, best friend, loving and devoted wife and caregiver. They shared the best, happiest moments of their lifetime together until his passing.
Donald peacefully departed this life January 6, 2024. He is survived by his devoted wife Maria-Lori. Stepchildren Eric and Latasha Rawles, daughters Arianna, Joyah, and Bellamy. Troy Rawles daughters Angel, Reagan, Troy Jr and Noah. His only Sister, Portia Harrington Allen, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
