This photo is 1 of 2 college graduation celebrations that Mrs. Doris attended for my Bachelors Degree (1996) and my Masters Degree (2008 picture). This picture features my father (the late T. Gerald Ellis, A.K.A. "Sleepy," her godson) and me, along with Norma, Terry, and Mrs. Doris. Always having supported my family through the good times and the painful moments. 

LaKeith and I have always appreciated it all. I feel blessed to have had a recent phone conversation with Mrs. Doris in February, 11 days before my birthday. I called her, for a change. I thank God for putting the thought in my head to make that call, at the time.

I love you Mrs. Doris for all that you were and meant, and all that you mean through your family. Rest in heavenly peace now; you have earned it!

We are so deeply sadden for your loss.  Please accept our heartfelt condolences and prayers on the passing of your mother/grandmother.  We hope you can find comfort knowing that you'll always have the memories you shared. The impact Doris made on everyone she met was incredible.

We loved Ms. Doris soo much and we always enjoyed hearing her stories, admired her wittiness and strength. Our thoughts are with you Ms. Norma and your family at this difficult time. Love Shanelle and the Hair Mania family.

My sincere condolences to the Family, Met Wes AME Zion Church and the many adopted Daughters (of which I am one) and friends of our beloved Mom Doris. So glad we kept in touch over the years. You are one of a kind in my life. Rest in peace the Lord’s faithful servant.

My heart and prayers go out to the Doris Washington Family.  Even though I did not get to  know her personally,  by her fruit-Norma, as well as her other children,  grandchildren, & great-grandchildren, is she known.   I am a Sodalist under our Prefect, Norma, and she is a wonderfully shining reflection of her dear mother.  I just wish that I could have known Miss Doris.
Merciful Lord, turn toward us and listen to our prayers: open the gates of paradise to your servant and help us who remain to comfort one another with assurances of faith, until we all meet in Christ and are with you and with our loved one forever. Into your gentle keeping, O Lord, we commend this child of God.
