How do you say thank you for being the greatest mother in the world... Well after the heart has let the tears flow out, the brain starts to send down all of the great times in that are in the memory bank. All of those days spent in that house with your kids, the grand kids and the great-grand kids. Not to mention all of the neighborhood kids that hung out at the coolest house on the block. You had enough love for us all. I was watching the end of the movie The Color Purple the other day and when Whoopie son hugged her and said Mama , my Mama, the tears started flowing again knowing that I couldn't get another hug from my Mama. But I felt my heart warming and a voice said, it'll be alright. And I knew then, you might not be here, but I got you here with me forever! You go ahead and rest now, everything will be alright now. With all the love in my heart..... Timmy

I know I was not always there to say how I felt inside but believe me you were always a jewel in my eyes the rarest kind no one could ever make another you and I just want to say thank you for giving me my father because without you or him I would not be here and thank you for giving me my aunts and uncles as well I needed all of you to make me the person I am today. This is my way of saying thank you and you will always be a part of me. I will always love you Marlena

Ms. Sutton would always, always tell you exactly how it is...... straight to the point. I Loved that about her and remembering going to doctors appointments and didn't mind how long it took or where it was. She always shared some good old knowledge with me. Thanking you for all you said and shared. Now May God continue to bless and keep his child with him. Job well done.

Granny was woman who has had great influence in my life. She was incredibly wise, practical, truthful, and had a sense of humor. She often said the things you needed to hear, which was not always popular. I remember the times we sat together over tea and cheese crackers, and she would share of her experiences on the farm, family, prejudices, and more. One specific story comes to mind, as a white man took to patting the black girls behinds while she worked at a restaurant. He did not do the same to their white counterparts. While her peers thought no harm of it, Granny knew it to be a lack of respect, and insisted he not do that to her. She must of told that story several times, but it showed that valued herself, though it may have been unpopular. She taught me and other many great lessons.

I will miss her greatly. I am so grateful to have experienced such a wonderful, strong, and intelligent woman.

Lots of love,

Dot as your sister there is an unspoken love and respect for you. We grew up in good old Piney Point, Md with 15 siblings, you and I were the last two standing and now I stand alone. As I've told your children I'm always available to ensure that they are okay. My dear sister there is a void in my heart because I will not be able to talk to you anymore. Please look down on me and guide my steps and show me small signs that you and my siblings are around so I won't feel so alone.. As you enters into the Pearly Gates and receive your wings please know that you are loved and will be missed sincerely. A Sisterly Bond is forever unbroken., until we meet again my sweet dear sister I Love You!!!
