Mr. Eddie Eugene Ward Sr., 91 passed this life on Wednesday, January 15, 2020. He was the only child of the late Mr. Eddie Ward and the late Mrs. Lenora Ward. He was born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina on December 26, 1928. Mr. Ward was educated in the public schools of Rocky Mount and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School.

Mr. Ward served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. He attended North Carolina College where he met his wife Dr. Doris Elizabeth Ward. They were married for sixty-five years. Later, Mr. Ward graduated from Howard University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. Mr. Ward also earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Howard University.

Mr. Ward began his career in the Federal Government. He worked at the United States Postal Service, as well as the Department of Human Services where he retired as a social worker in 1981. After retiring from the Federal Government, Mr. Ward worked for the Maryland State Government where he retired as an assessor in 1991.

Mr. Ward had resided in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area since 1955. He and his wife retired to Greenville, North Carolina for twenty years. They returned to Prince George’s County, Maryland to be near their children and grandchildren.

Mr. Ward is survived by his loving wife Dr. Doris Elizabeth Ward and four loving children, Eddie Eugene Ward, Jr., (Sabrina), Tanya Ward Jordan, Tracia Ward-Rainey (Scott), and Tamara Ward-Lucas (Kenneth). He leaves to cherish nine grandchildren, Eddie Eugene Ward III, Kelli Jordan, Byron Ward, Chase Ward-McEwen, Kennedy Ward-McEwen, Kyle Lucas, Easton Rainey, Juston Rainey, and Logan Lucas.
