Peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, August 3, 2016. Loving mother of Bernard W. Holmes, Emma L. Claggett and Joyce E. Toomer. She is also survived by a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; cousins; friends; and the VFW Lancers Organization. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Alfred Holmes, son, Alfred W. Holmes and daughter, Barbara S. Wilkerson. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 16 from 10 a.m. until time of service, 11 a.m. at Mount Gilead Baptist Church, 1625 13th Street, NW. Interment Fort Lincoln Cemetery on Wednesday, August 17 at 10 a.m.
