Condolences to the immediate family members  of Edward D. Merriweather, a lifelong friend and colleague dating back to 1953 until his transition. May he forever "Rest In Peace".

Sincere condolences to the family of my longtime friend, colleague and yes TSU classmate of Edward (Ed) Merriweather. I met Edward almost 70 years ago as a freshman on the campus of Tennessee State University in Nashville. As fellow biology majors, we toiled many hours together in the still standing Science Building (Harned Hall). We reunited a few years later in Washington, D.C. where we both were serving our military obligation and following those years we met again as members of the WDCTSU alumni association where he faithfully served as treasurer forever. Ed truly epitomized the title, "Gentleman and scholar".

My memories of Edward dates back to 1953 when we entered Tennessee State University as Freshmen. We graduated together in 1957, following which we both served in the military service. We reconnected and worked together for well over 20 years in the Washington DC TSU Alumni Chapter and simultaneously in our respective fellow churches in N.W. Washington, D.C.
You've earned your wings Edward. Now Rest in Eternal Peace.


I remember Mr Merriweather when I was a secretary at Stuart JHS. He was a quiet, professional man who cared about his students. Never knew of his past history. 
I am proud to say that it was a pleasure to work with him. Rest in peace.

My condolences goes out to the family of the late Mr. Edward D. Merriweather.  He and I were alumna of Tennessee State University and were members of the TSU Local and National Alumni Association as well as members of the Washington DC Retirees Teachers Union.  Edward served many years as the Treasurer of the Local DC Chapter of the Tennessee State Alumni Association.  He will be sorely missed especially by the TSU Alumni Association of DC and vicinity.  You all loved him but, God loved him best.  May he rest in peace.

Brother Merriweather was always a calm voice of reason in the TSU Washington, DC Alumni Chapter. I truly enjoyed his demeanor and listening to his stories of ”Old Beta Omicron” days at TSU. I send my deepest condolences to the Merriweather family he will be missed. Peace, Blessings, and much love to the Merriweather Family.

My condolences to Birdie, Charles and the rest of the Merrieweather family.   We met as part of the Tennessee State University Washington DC Alumni where he and his line brother H. William Young were members of the DC  chapter.   A matter of fact half of his Alpha Phi Alpha Beta Omicron Chapter line of eight  moved to DC.   He faithfully served the DC chapter in many capacities including  President and Treasurer.   We will remember him at the next Beta Omicron memorial service at TSU's homecoming.

together. We were friends then and beyond. I will sorely miss him.

Sincere condolences to Birdie, Charles, the entire Merriweather Family and cadre of friends and associates.
I am a life long friend and associate of Edward, since we met as freshmen biology majors at Tennessee State University (TSU) in 1953. From that moment forward, we were almost in constant communication, starting with joining our respective fraternities together, serving our military stints simultaneously and especially, the TSU Family. Ed was truly a man of integrity and served faithfully as the treasurer of the Alumni Assn. for at least 25 years, his reports being always impeccably detailed and accurate. Also, we met annually either at TSU's Homecoming,, alumni annual  scholarship fundraisers, summer park picnics and monthly chapter meetings, always accompanied by his devoted wife. I can truly say that "His Blood Ran Blue". In addition, he was just as faithful at his church, First Baptist of NW Washington  and as a DC Science School Teacher. He leaves an indelible mark with any and all institutions with which he served.
Rest in eternal peace comrade. You have indisputably earned it.

He was a Mighty Man of Valor! He loved the Lord, his family and church ! I know that he's safe in the arms of Jesus! God bless you Family and Grandchildren keep his legacy Alive!
