I have known Betty for over 40 years. We first met at The Greenwood Inn (Smitty's) in Hyattsville which is also where I met my husband, Tom. Oh boy, the fun we used to have between drinks at the bar, bingo, The Moose and anything and everything else we used to do. We all became very good friends and have stayed very good friends ever since. Betty became a huge part of my family and Tom's. Tom and I married in 1998 and had our daughter Casey in 2001. Betty really loved Casey and never missed a birthday party or bringing by a Christmas present for her. 
Betty used to call me "T" and I used to call her "B".  We went by the hospital on 7/3/26 to see her. Even though Betty wasn't feeling her best we stilled laughed and joked just like always.  It broke my heart to see Betty not feeling well but I am so happy we went.
We told her we loved her very much when we were leaving.
All I can say is thanks "B" for all the fun, all the laughing until we cried and most of all for being our friend.
We will never have another friend like Betty. She is one in a million.

Betty was a special person to everyone who knew her. I had the privilege of working with Betty at IANA until her retirement in 2016. Over the years, our relationship grew beyond that of coworkers, and she became a dear friend who held a very special place in my heart.

Betty was an active member of the College Park Moose and thoroughly enjoyed playing shuffleboard and shotgun bingo over the years.  Her kindness, friendship, and warm spirit touched so many lives, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

I am especially grateful that I was able to visit her in the hospital and tell her how much she was loved and appreciated by so many people. Knowing she heard those words is a comfort I will always cherish.

Rest in peace, my dear friend. I will forever treasure the memories, laughter, and friendship we shared.

It's hard to put into words what Betty meant to me.  We met over 27 years ago as coworkers, but over time our friendship grew into something much more.  After Betty retired, she became one of my closest and dearest friends.  I loved her so much.

When I moved to Pennsylvania but continued working in Maryland, I made sure to see Betty every Wednesday that I was in Maryland.  Wednesdays became our special day.  Sometimes we'd go out to eat at her favorite place, the original Ledo's Pizza in College Park.  Other times we'd take a walk, sit and talk, laugh, share stories, and simply enjoy being together.

As the years went on and Betty wasn't able to get around as well, our Wednesdays didn't change.  I'd pick up food and head to her apartment, where we'd spend hours talking and laughing, just like always.  It didn't matter where we were or what we were doing; being together was what mattered.

Even when Betty was hospitalized, I continued my Wednesday visits, praying with her that everything would be okay.  By God's grace, I was able to spend time with her on my final Wednesday visit, the night before she passed away.  I sat with her, and we prayed some more.  I told her to hold the Lord in her heart and reassured her that it was okay to let go.  I gave her a big kiss on her forehead, told her I loved her, and said my goodbye.  That moment is one I will treasure forever.   

Thank you for your friendship, your love, and the countless memories we shared.  You will always hold a special place in my heart, and I will carry you with me always.

I have known Betty since about 1985 when she started working at ITA/IANA.  About 40 years ago this sweet woman came into my life and we have been friends ever since.  She will be dearly missed.
