Ellen F. Love

March 6, 1920 – March 11, 2021
Obituary of Ellen F. Love
IN THE CARE OF

Fort Lincoln Funeral Home & Cemetery

On Thursday, March 11, 2021 Ellen Fox Love passed away peacefully at home in Hyattsville, Maryland at 101. She was born Ellen Irene Fox to parents, Harold B. Fox and Cora E. Rhodes, on March 6,1920 in Brooksville, Pennsylvania.

Ellen lived in Big Run with her older brother until she graduated from high school, in Pennsylvania. She moved to Bethesda, Maryland where she worked for a telephone company. Through friends, she met a dapper, Army soldier – Woodrow, whom she married in Mississippi. She continued to work and live in Bethesda until Woodrow came home from war and started his automobile service station. She then settled into the role of a Domestic Engineer (housewife) and took care of her homes and children.

Ellen loved gardening and painting the rooms in the house. Her favorite flower were the weeds that grew up every spring, called “star flowers.” She also liked Easter lilies, lilacs, daffodils, forsythia, and azalea bushes. She was a blessing and wonderful mother who worried about her children up till the very end of her life. She was stubborn and a fighter, up to the very end.

Ellen was preceded in death by her husband Woodrow W. Love of 56 years. She was the last sibling of the Fox family, of nine children: six brothers, Kenneth Blair Fox, John Howard Fox, Raymond Ellsworth Fox, Blake Rhodes Fox, Wilson Clair Fox, and Harold Leroy Fox.; and two sisters: Mary La Rue Fox, and Coral Ghyneth Fox.

Ellen is survived by four daughters: Patricia Ann (Pat) Love, Janice Ellen Brack, Nancy Joanne Love, and Margaret Mae Rataj; half-sister, Monabelle Pearl (Wineberg) Nichols; granddaughter, Jeannine Ellen Payne; and great-granddaughters, Kayleigh Sue Payne and Abigail Ellen Payne. She was a loving daughter, mother, friend, and grandmother. She will surely be missed by all her friends and cousins who knew and loved her the 60+ years she spent on Nicholson St. in Hyattsville, Maryland.

Please send all flowers, correspondences, cards to home address @ 1313 Nicholson Street, Hyattsville MD, 20782.
