Elsie was courted by the late George C. Nicholas and from this union 2 children were born, Georgia and Gerald.
In the fall of 1969 Elsie migrated to the United States to pursue a better life for herself as well as her two children. One of her greatest joys was when they were able to join her in the spring of 1975.
Elsie attended Sacred Heart Nursing/Vocational School where she obtained her GED and completed her nursing course, but she later chose not to continue in that field. She went on to housekeeping for 30+ years.
Elsie was a member of the Jamaican National Association because she loved her country. She never forgot her roots, she would visit Jamaica annually to see her siblings, other family members and friends. She loved to travel.
Elsie was baptized in the late 70's and gave her life to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She lived her life as an upstanding Christian and servant for the Lord—always kind, caring and giving of others which was her greatest attribute. She was a very proud, private and hard-working woman that provided for her family until the end.
Elsie gained her wings on June 13th, 2020. She was an earth angel and will forever be an angel to her family and friends and will be dearly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents Alice and Adolphus and her brother Ernel, and followed by her daughter Georgia. She is survived by her sister Phyllis, son Gerald, six grandchildren; David, Cheryl, Sophia, Frank, Iamanu (Junior) and Christina. Nine great grandchildren; Tayshaun, Naomi, Ekwon, Ihmond, Cirvone, Jahmari, Iliyanna, Lily and, soon to arrive, Jru. Four great great grandchildren; Rashad, Noah, Raheim and Rahmir—as well as a host of dear friends.
Elsie was blessed to see four generations of her family and I pray that her memory lives on in each and every one of them.
