Ernestine Mary Mack

May 29, 1931March 28, 2021
Play Tribute Movie

Born May 29, 1931 in Saint Mary's County to the late Gladys and Bernard Gough. She departed this earth on March 28th, 2021 at 6:10 am at Washington Hospital Center of natural causes. Two months short of her 90th birthday.

Widowed from the late Howard T. MACK.

She has left a unfulfillable void in our lives. 920 K. Street NE was her home for 64 years. She was a housewife and a mother of 13 children. She had a beautiful smile, a wonderful personality, and loved by everyone.

Ernestine was a devoted Jehovah Witness. She was a matriarch of the neighborhood. Many of the neighborhood children also looked up to her as a mom.

Although she only had a formal 8th grade education, she had a PHD in life lessons, immaculate handwriting and taught and gave advice to many. She loved all her children the same and treated them all equally. She was a guide, nurturer, and confidant. She had a great interest in herbal remedies, loved to write, and enjoyed being around family.

Ernestine will always live in our memories, spirit and heart. Her presence meant more than she will ever know. May we all continue to be uplifted by her compassion and love. May her soul rest in peace.

She leaves to cherish her memories: (four sons) Everett Mack, Omowale Sia (Aka Kenny Mack), Barry Mack (Karen Mack), and Vernon Mack. (Five daughters) Dolores Marbury, Yvonne Mack, Lorraine Jones (Hugh F. Jones), Darlene Mack, and Juanita Mack. Two daughter in laws: Carmen Mack and Annette Mack. A neice Cynthia Williams (Will Williams), and one great nephew: Vaughn Williams. Proceeded in death Thomas Mack, Warren Mack, Irvin Mack, and Wayne Mack, and a great friend: Wayne Paul Lewis.

29 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren, 20 great great grandchildren. A host of other relatives and friends.

Ms. Mack was one of my favorite clients. I always looked forward to her coming in to my beauty salon, Capitol Coiffure. She had a head full of beautiful hair, and she had a beautiful smile and ahe always had encouraging words. It was always a joy to style her hair and take her back home.

Rest in peace in the arms of Jesus with the angels singing and praising God for the legacy you have left behind for us to follow in this world.

Grandma, your life was full of loving deeds,
forever thoughtful of our special needs.
Today and tomorrow, my whole life through,
I will always love and cherish you.
There was magic in grandmother’s touch,
and sunshine in her smile.
There was love in everything she did
to make our lives worthwhile.
We found both hope and courage
just by looking in her eyes.
Her laughter was a source of joy,
her words warm and wise.
There was a kindness and compassion
found in her embrace,
And shining down from Heaven above
we see the glow of Grandma’s face.

Love you, Grand-Daughter Darlene

You will always be remembered. You became my step mother at an early age and you did the best you could to raise me. Even though we didn't see each other much after I grew up I have lots of memories of you and how much you did to raise me. I always admired your strength and your ability to show me Love and kindness. May you rest in peace.
