Fay was raised as the youngest of three, dear sisters. After growing up and graduating from Joliet Junior College, Fay worked at Lytton's Department Store as manager of the accessories department. It was at Lytton’s that she met her beloved husband, Claude William Bogley. Fay and Claude married in 1951. After having 2 children, the family relocated to Maryland for Claude’s work with the FBI. The couple resided in Silver Spring, MD for 45 years, raising children, seeing them marry, and later welcoming grandchildren. Throughout their marriage, Fay and Claude loved to travel and visit family. Some of their favorite memories included time at the cottage and bay with relatives. Together, the couple was very active in church. Fay enjoyed helping others by participating in the ladies groups in her congregations. She loved to sing in church choirs, as a soloist, and in the congregation. It was always a special moment to hear Fay sing with her sisters Lois and Joyce.
In 2001, Fay and Claude moved to Gainesville, VA. They continued to be thankful for the blessings of family, attending church, their country, decorating for the holidays, and traveling. Favorite destinations included Ken’s home in Lake Anna, VA, Ocean City, MD with Claudia’s family, and Florida, where lots of memories were made with Fay’s nieces and their families. Together, Fay and Claude enjoyed life to the fullest. Their 67 year marriage was the gold standard of a loving relationship. They were devoted to one another and an inspiration to so many, including their grandchildren. Not long after Claude passed in December of 2018, Fay moved to Sunrise of Silver Spring. Fay’s faith in the Lord and her joyful spirit sustained her through the loss of her husband and her move. Once settled at Sunrise, the staff was quick to fall in love with Fay’s smile and personality. She continued to brighten the day of everyone she encountered. Aside from her signature smile, Fay was always found wearing a lovely outfit and beautiful jewelry. She was still a fashionista in her nineties with her hair-styled and make-up applied! During her last few years, Fay continued to treasure precious time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Fay’s family takes comfort in knowing she is now with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her legacy of joy will continue to live on through the lives she impacted.
She is survived by her two married children, Claudia Fay (Gerald B.) Fink of West Laurel, MD and Ken William (Alicia Posey) Bogley of Palm Coast, FL; four grandchildren,
Christie (Daniel) Puckett, Bryan (Jennifer) Fink, Rhiannon Gammill and the late William Gammill; great-grandchildren, Abigail Grace Puckett and Walker Bryant Fink.
Preceded in death by her husband, Claude William Bogley; her parents William and Erna Raddatz; sisters Lois (William) Sherman and Joyce (Donald) Hamilton; and brother, LeRoy in infancy.
