

Frances Spencer Pearson was born on February 22, 1945, to Walter Spencer and Marquina Davis Spencer. She was raised in Covington, Virginia and attended Watson Elementary and High Schools. She was a member of the basketball team, cheering squad, drama club, and glee club. Her class was the first to complete 12 years at Watson High instead of 11.
After completing high school, Frances attended Winston-Salem Teachers College (now known as Winston-Salem State University). She majored in Elementary Education and minored in Physical Education. After finishing college, she came to Washington, D.C. and began her teaching career in 1967. She did her first 4 years of teaching on Bowling Air Force Base (which was part of Congress Hgts. Elementary School (now known as M.L. King, Jr. Elementary School). She retired in 2000 after 33 years of dedicated service.
Frances met John when she started working on Bowling AFB. He was driving the school bus, and she was late and needed a ride. On November 26, 1975, they were joined in marriage and were blessed with a son Dwayne.
Frances attended Pine Street Baptist Church as a child and after coming to the D.C. area later attended and joined Shiloh Baptist Church in Alexandria, VA. She later became a member of Victory Temple Missionary Baptist Church under Rev. Dr. Tom A. Bailey. She served on the Hospitality Committee while at VTMBC.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents: her husband John Pearson Sr., son Dwayne Pearson and great grandchild Cataleya.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her stepchildren: John Pearson, Jr., (Cynthia) and Tonya Jackson (Michael); grandchildren; Janay Haggins (CJ), John Pearson III, Michael Jackson, Jr., (Diamond), Johneice Pearson, Devin Royster (Catherine), and Anthony Jackson; great grandchildren; John IV, Jaila, Caileigh, Daniel, Hailey, Parker, Arya, Harper, Tylan, Stella, SJ, Cairo, Cassie, and Dylan. Goddaughter; Jazmyn Brown, brother-in-law: Charles Pardue and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home, 3401 Bladensburg Rd, Brentwood, MD 20722, on October 9, 2026, beginning at 12:30 pm.
