Frank Leo Hicks Jr.

Frank Leo Hicks, Jr., was born on September 29, 1958, in Washington, DC. He was the firstborn child of Pauline Branch Hicks and Frank Leo Hicks, Sr., both of whom preceded him in death. He entered his eternal home on August 26, 2026.

Frank was raised in a Christian home and baptized at Bible Way Temple in Washington, DC. In 1976, he graduated from Potomac High School in Oxon Hill, Maryland, and later attended Prince George’s Community College in Largo, Maryland.

Creativity was an integral part of Frank’s life. He nurtured a love of music, studying piano and performing in recitals. His gifted hands composed drawings, as well as arts and crafts projects in his youth. For many years, one of his creations—a beautiful beige and brown pottery bowl— was displayed in a place of honor on the coffee table of the family home. Over time, he became known as a jack-of-all-trades and excelled at fixing things.

Frank inherited his mother’s talent for cooking. Family and friends looked forward to holiday meals, where he prepared and served turkey and his recipe for mac-and-cheese with sausage.

He loved watching movies and sports events, especially raucous Washington Commanders (formerly Redskins) football games. He also enjoyed traveling and had particularly fond memories of a road trip with his dad to visit cousins in Milledgeville, Georgia.

Following his education, Frank married Danita Merle Zollicoffer. Two children—Kevin and Nakesha—were born from this union.

His federal government affiliation started early as a post-high school summer employee with the U.S. Supreme Court. He went on to become a security professional, providing services for multiple federal agencies—including the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. International Trade Commission. He retired in April 2024.

Frank is survived by his partner, Mary Pratt; son, Kevin Marques Hicks of Fort Washington, Maryland; daughter, Nakesha Frachon Silver of Littleton, North Carolina; daughter of the heart, Latreisha Johnson (Tony) of Elizabeth City, North Carolina; grandchildren Rain Powers, Kevin Marques Hicks, Jr., Abel Silver, Kase Silver, Bria Richardson; and grandson of the heart, Tony Johnson II; sister, Angela Marie Hicks; aunt, Willie Mae Matthews; uncle, Robert Butts, Sr.; and many cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home, 3401 BLADENSBURG RD, BRENTWOOD, MD 20722, US, on September 9, 2026, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm.

A Celebration of Life will take place at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home, 3401 BLADENSBURG RD, BRENTWOOD, MD 20722, US, on September 9, 2026, from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm.

A Committal Service will be held at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 BLADENSBURG RD, BRENTWOOD, MD 20722, US, on September 9, 2026, from 2:30 pm to 2:45 pm.
