Once he returned to the United States, he met Edna Diana Clark. They married, purchased a home in Washington, DC and had 4 children: Jerome (deceased), Bernard, Rongie and Kevin. It was also during that time that he became a member of Bethesda Baptist Church, where he joined and participated in the Sunday School, The Male Chorus and The 8 AM Choir. Edna and George were married for 67 years. Edna departed earlier this year on June 15, 2019.
