He leaves behind his beloved wife of 62 years, Shirley Burris.
He is survived by his three children Bonnie and her husband Shawn, Aubrey, and John and his wife Mary Helen; a daughter in law, Lois; and his siblings Lorraine and Francis. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren Brenda, Betsy, Christy, John, Jason, Brian, Dean, Chad, Garrett, and Savannah, and 3 great grandchildren Jenevieve, Palmer, and Troy.
Born in Massachusetts on December 1st, 1932, Gerald was the son of the late Leroy and Helen Burris. At the age of 17, he joined the United States Army and bravely served his country fighting in Korea where he was wounded and earned his SGT stripes on the battlefield. He also served in Vietnam before retiring from the US military in 1970.
Gerald Francis Burris Sr. was loved by many, and especially admired for his strong morals, lively sense of humor, generosity, bravery, and his desire to live life to its fullest – which he did every single day. He will be missed greatly by his family and many friends!
Gerald was preceded in death by his siblings Leroy, Ella Mae, Eugene, George and Larry. His eldest son, Gerald Francis Jr. also preceded him in death.
