Glorita was born on May 10, 1950 in La Paz San Narciso Zambalas, Philippines. During her childhood, her grandmother raised her in the province. She graduated from Cayetano Arellano High School, in Manila and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Philippine Women's University in 1972. She immigrated to the United States in 1974, where she worked two jobs as a nursing aide and elevator operator at Doctors Hospital in DC before passing her boards in 1976. This sparked a long career of helping others at the following hospitals/organizations in the District: Children’s, National Rehabilitation, Washington Hospital Center, Sibley, Providence, Georgetown, George Washington University, Visiting Nurses Association and even worked for Doctor George Resta, the medical doctor for the Washington Redskins.
Glorita graduated from Potomac Massage Therapy Institute in 1991, yet continued practicing nursing full-time another eleven years while massaging part-time. She pursued work full-time as a massage therapist in 2002 with notable clients being President Bush Sr., Elizabeth Taylor, Denzel Washington, and Kobe Bryant.
In 1980, Glorita married Matthew Andrea and later had a family together raising their daughters Marie Claire and Francesca. Though subsequently divorcing, they continued to remain close attending family functions. Outside of work, she liked to write poetry, garden, cook, and was an avid member of her church’s prayer team. She enjoyed listening to classical and oldies music from the 60s & 70s.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers Jesus Murillo and Mario Murillo.
She is lovingly survived by her two daughters Marie Claire Andrea (Fuad) and Francesca Andrea; three siblings: Edith Murillo (Romey), Henry Murillo (Zeny), and Rolenio Murillo (Loni); two sister-in laws: Norma Murillo (Jesus) and Lo Rena (Mario), her grandson Abdul Malik Fuad, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, many relatives, and friends.
