On March 30, 1965, Gregory Eugene Wiggins was the third child born to Mary K. and John T. Wiggins, Jr., in Tarboro, NC. At age two, Greg moved to Washington, DC with his mother and two older sisters, Sylvia and Marion. Greg began his education at Lenox Elementary School and concluded school when he attended Wilson High School. After high school, Greg began his professional career at District Photo, in Beltsville, MD, where he worked for several years. In 1997, he relocated from Washington, DC to Lanham, MD.
Greg’s sense of style and love of fashion led him to a twenty-four (24) year career with Macy’s Inc. Greg worked at Macy’s in Prince Georges Plaza and then later at Macy’s Pentagon City until his passing. Greg enjoyed going to the gym to exercise and strength train. He also enjoyed reading wellness magazines and eating healthy, which motivated him to stay physically fit. The only exception was during the holidays when Greg relaxed his diet to join his family and friends over food and fun. Greg believed that exercising and refraining from smoking, drinking, and doing drugs were the key to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Additionally, Greg attended Sunday services with his sister Marion and her late husband, Marcus, at Union Wesley Methodist Episcopal AME Zion Church.
On July 25, 2024, Greg went to the hospital to address his persistent hiccups, but he soon discovered that his hiccups were a symptom of a much more serious condition. After a two-week hospital stay and a week at home, Greg returned to the hospital where he would remain until he succumbed to his illness. On Monday, August 26, 2024, at the age of fifty-nine (59), Greg entered eternal rest.
Greg is remembered by his mother Mary Wiggins, his two sisters
Sylvia Moss and Marion Williams, his niece Alexis Dixon (Wayne), his aunts Ruth Knight and Addie Gibbs, his first cousins Carolyn Williams (Marshall), Valerie Dunaway (Herbert), Patricia Shahid, Anita Station, Penelope Johnson, Veronica Knight, Theresa Knight, Eula Knight, Felicia Thomas (Allan), Tonya Gibbs Penn (Ernest), Alicia Gibbs; and a host of second cousins.
