

Helen Evans was born in Washington, DC on April 7, 1932 to the late Joseph and Bessie Evans. She was one of eight children born from this union. Helen peacefully entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 9, 2021.
Helen was raised and educated in Washington, DC. She attended District of Columbia Public Schools, graduating from Dunbar High School and would later receive a 2 year minor education at Teacher’s College.
Helen dedicated her working career at the U.S. Postal Service in Washington, DC and retired with 30 years of Federal Government Service. She enjoyed bowling and participated in a women’s bowling league during her leisure time.
Helen was a faithful member of Asbury United Methodist Church for many years of her life. Anyone who knew Helen knew she was a big sports fan. She loved watching sports especially the Washington Football Team, French tennis player Rafael Nadal, and PGA Championship golfer Tiger Woods on Saturday and Sunday. She also found pleasure traveling with family and friends on trips to the casino, shopping, and movies.
She will be missed dearly. Her spirit will live on forever with five sisters, Lucille Marshall (deceased), Marie Offutt (deceased), Ethel Smith (deceased), Mary McDaniel and Marion Cephas; and two brothers Andrew Evans (deceased), Charles Evans, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
