Obituary of Hosie Andre Darnaby
IN THE CARE OF

Fort Lincoln Funeral Home & Cemetery

Hosie Andre Darnaby (Andre) passed away peacefully at home in Clinton, Maryland on Saturday, September 19, 2020 following a heroic medical battle and a strong will to live. He was born on July 17, 1964 at Columbia Hospital for Women in Washington, DC to the late Delores Bowens Witherspoon and the late Adrian T. Darnaby. He received his early education in DC public schools attending Middleton Valley Elementary School and Andrew Jackson Jr. High School. He was a proud graduate of Potomac Senior High School class of 1982. Following high school graduation he went onto attend the University of Maryland, College Park.

Andre accepted the Lord as his savior at an early age and was baptized on May 23, 1979 at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, Washington, DC. He was devoted to his faith and loved the Lord to infinity. Andre enjoyed listening to religious sermons, bible teachings and reading books to help guide his Christian walk and that fed him spiritually. He was active in the church and in his community. During his time in Tampa, Florida he joined Bible Based Fellowship Church under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Arthur T. Jones and was a member of the Men’s Choir. Upon his return to the DMV he joined the First Baptist Church of Glenarden, Upper Marlboro, MD where he sought spiritual support and guidance from Pastor John K. Jenkins. His faith in God and love of the gospel often found him in heated discussions with his family and friends challenging them about scripture and biblical references.

Successful businessman and entrepreneur - his love of cooking, entertainment and hospitality provided the essentials to secure a contract with Columbia Union College as the Director of Food Service. It was through this partnership that he birthed and operated CBJ Catering which proved to be a very popular and profitable business. While CBJ was his dream job, he held other managerial and leadership positions throughout the DMV. He was a graduate of Hamburger University (training facility of McDonald’s) and he completed the competitive Harris Teeter Manager Leadership Training Program. No matter the position he held he was always recognized by his community and corporate leaders for his dedication, honesty and integrity.

Adoring and caring father - it warmed his heart whenever his children called or came to visit. He encouraged family time and connectivity. He reveled in watching his children develop into adulthood and beamed with pride at their similarities, differences and uniqueness.

Andre was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason on June 8, 2002; he was elected president of his class and delighted in the work of his lodge to improve his community and to become a better citizen. He enjoyed traveling, live concerts and jazz festivals. He was an avid and die hard Washington Redskins fan. His favorite past time was talking and joking with family and friends. He nurtured and cherished a 40 year friendship with his childhood friends Rod, Joe, Angelo, Rick, Gene, Van and Jeff.

Andre leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife forever Yvette Darnaby; his children Clinton, Brandon, and Jasmine Darnaby; grandchildren, Callie, Josiah and Legend; sisters, Deborah Daniels-Bowens (maternal), Min. Dr. Diane Aikens, Jarneise Daniels, Adrianne Johnson, Shirley M. Darnaby; brothers, and Adrian Darnaby III (Paternal) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is predeceased by his brothers, Frank, James, Gregory and Adrian Jr.; sisters, Renee, Virgie, Patrice, Karen and Sandra.
