Irene Krumpe Roberts

Irene was born on December 2, 1923 in Berwyn, MD. She lived in the Berwyn and College Park area all of her life. Her parents both immigrated from Germany to the US and raised a family starting on their farm, which was located in what is now part Greenbelt, MD. They later moved to a house in Berwyn Heights. Their children: Elfrieda Bertha Krumpe Maisel, Charlotte Maude Krumpe Morrison, Hildegard Minnie Krumpe Simmons, Curt Albert Krumpe, Gertrude Angelina Krumpe Spriggs Wheeler, Irene Krumpe Roberts, Gunther Herman Krumpe, Eunice Doris Daisy Krumpe Wiedel.

She met and married her husband Everett and they raised a family of five in College Park. She taught them good values and to be kind, sharing as well as independent and self-sufficient. And passed along her style of humor. She was always willing to do for others. She was an active and dedicated member of the Berwyn Baptist Church.

Irene is survived by her children Jeanette Baylor, Wayne Roberts, Douglas Roberts and Shirley Gastelle and Irene’s sister Eunice Weidel. She has many grandchildren and great grandchildren who she loved greatly and enjoyed seeing. She is preceded in death by her husband Everett M Roberts Jr. and son Warren G Roberts, and her siblings.

She loved animals, birds and nature in general- in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Wildlife Federation www.nwf.org, Chesapeake Audubon Society www.chesapeakeaudubon.org or the Chesapeake Bay Foundation www.cbf.org.

The family would also like to thank the staff at Brightside Assisted Living and Holy Cross Hospital for their care and compassion.
